There were plenty of smiling faces at KidsTown yesterday for the annual dinosaur hunt.

It its third year, children of all ages searched for 150 dinosaurs hidden throughout the adventure playground.

With maps in hand, children ran around and learnt interesting facts.

They also enjoyed a jumping castle and rides on the miniature train throughout the day.

Greater Shepparton City Council leisure facilities team leader Steve Wilson said it was a ‘‘busy day and busy weekend in general’’.

‘‘All of our themed events are popular and today has been a great effort from our staff and volunteers,’’ Mr Wilson said.

The event was inspired by a dinosaur exhibition four years ago.

‘‘There was an exhibition from the National Museum in Canberra that visited Shepp and it was really popular so we’ve kept building on that,’’ he said.

The next big event at KidsTown is KidsFest on Saturday, September 23, and Sunday, September 24. The event will include a super hero theme.
