Goulburn Valley Pride is celebrating its 12th birthday today and to mark the milestone it is holding a party.

The first part of the commemorations will be held upstairs at the GV Hotel, where people can dine a la carte from the bistro menu and enjoy the tunes of Shepparton’s Jake and Madz.

This will then be followed by a screening of Wonder Woman at Village Cinemas Shepparton.

GV Pride’s Damien Stevens said 12 years was an important milestone for the organisation and it was looking forward to celebrating it with the community.

Mr Stevens said since GV Pride was formed it had helped many people, with more than 275 people accessing it at different points in its history.

He said the organisation decided Wonder Woman would be an appropriate movie to see because it appealed to everyone and presented audiences with a strong female character and ideals.

Mr Stevens said the birthday event would be fun, family-friendly and a good way to celebrate 12 years of the organisation’s work in promoting social inclusion and helping others.

GV Pride will hold its birthday celebrations at the GV Hotel from 6pm tonight. Meals and drinks will be at restaurant prices but everyone will receive a free birthday cupcake.

People are encouraged to buy their ticket for the 9.15pm, 2D screening of Wonder Woman at Village Cinemas Shepparton ahead of time.

People can get $15 tickets for the film at the cinema but must phone ahead to reserve these.

Everyone is invited to attend one or both of these events.
